Purpose
Lifetouch and TEEN TRUTH are proud to offer the 2017 Alaska Leadership Summit. Focused on social-emotional issues and thought provoking leadership models this event is poised to become the premiere solution for leadership development efforts across the state of Alaska. Featuring award-winning content, powerful speaking performances, and workshop-style sessions this full-day event gives students a critical understanding of the issues currently affecting school culture and empowers them to develop an action plan that addresses identified concerns. Overall, the goal of this life-changing event is to produce campus wide initiatives that will improve school safety and build campus culture.
Overview
This student-centered event gives student leaders a critical understanding of the issues currently affecting school climate and empowers them to develop a comprehensive action plan to address the identified concerns. The program is offered to schools that want to improve the impact of existing leadership groups by developing a TEEN TRUTH inspired action plan that youth can use to produce campus wide activities that improve safety, connect students and that ultimately enhance school climate.
Objectives
Ideal for middle school or high school aged audiences; our focus is to help student leaders understand that being an effective leader is about more than producing dances, rallies, or theme days. The TEEN TRUTH: Leadership Summit teaches the importance of their elected position and how to use campus activities to improve student life. Geared to be a full day experience, this powerful event works to redefine leadership and teach important skills such as:
- Possessing a greater understanding of what it means to be a leader
- Brainstorming critical campus issues that are negatively affecting school culture
- Developing tangible solutions that can be implemented on campus
- Creating a year long activity calendar that focuses on connecting the student body

Hosted by JC Pohl
JC Pohl is a producer and speaker who has reached over 9 million people with his message of strength and personal power. He has produced ground breaking programs such as TEEN TRUTH and RISING UP, and award-winning content for companies such as Warner Brothers, ESPN, and Disney. He has also provided innovative educational content for The American Film Institute and Human Relations Media.
His anti-bully work with TEEN TRUTH has sent him around the world, inspiring students, educators, and parents to tell hard truths and be the difference. During his career, Pohl has been featured on news programs, radio shows, and has received front-page coverage on USA Today and Yahoo! Sports. He has reached students in over 1,000 schools and keynoted conferences for CADA, TASC, BOOST, NASC, LEAD, NCSA, ACE, Texas School Safety Center, SC AMLE, and the PTA. Additionally, he has consulted for brands such as Six Flags, Universal Studios, Lifetouch, Union Pacific, Special Olympics, The Miami Dolphins, The Baltimore Ravens, and SHRM Chapters in Maine, New England, and Texas.
To compliment TEEN TRUTH, he has also developed RISING UP, a self-development program designed to teach students to build resiliency in the face of adversity. Launched in 2013, Pohl’s RISING UP: Coaching Program has reached over tens of thousands of students across the country and consists of a peer-to-peer curriculum used by school counselors, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Texas School Safety Center, 21st Century ACE Centers, Communities in Schools and other leading education related organizations across the country.
Pohl is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate, holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University, San Marcos, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Marketing from Santa Clara University. Additionally, he has sat on the board of the Austin Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and manages a small private practice for select counseling clients.
