Recently TEEN TRUTH’s Sharon Aguilar was able to train 26 student coaches in the RISING UP: Coaching Program Peer-to-Peer Curriculum. Working with administrators from both GEAR UP and the district’s 21st Century ACE Program Aguilar had this to say about her experience, “On presidents’s day I had the privilege of working with junior’s from Groesbeck High School. A mix from all walks of life these youth volunteered to make a difference in their community. The new coaches will be traveling back to their Junior High Schools to help train others to #changethelanguage around bullying and other critical student pressures. They will become social advocates and help build a cohesive school community by inspiring others to develop a culture of understanding, a culture of support, and a culture resiliency.”
Long time client Traci Keele had this to say about her experience working with RISING UP’s curriculum, “Sharon did a great job. The students really enjoyed it and we had many RISING UP coaches show up that same afternoon for the ACE Program! The students just did a meet and greet with the 7th and 8th graders, but will be sharing the modules the rest of the semester.”
