The Inspiration Behind TEEN TRUTH

The concept for TEEN TRUTH emerged in the years following the Columbine High School tragedy.

The Creation of RISING UP

Building on the success of TEEN TRUTH’s assemblies and leadership initiatives, JC Pohl developed RISING UP, a social-emotional learning curriculum designed to help students build resilience while navigating adversity.

Launched in 2013, the RISING UP: Coaching Program focuses on helping students develop the emotional skills necessary to overcome challenges while changing conversations surrounding bullying, suicidal ideation, and life’s inevitable obstacles.

The peer-to-peer curriculum has been used by school counselors, Communities In Schools, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Texas School Safety Center, 21st Century ACE Centers, and numerous education-focused organizations across the United States.
